Wallace Wade’s first Rose Bowl Game experience was in 1916, when he was a member of the Brown University squad that met Washington State University in the second Rose Bowl Game. Brown lost that day, but Wade had his revenge in 1926, when he coached the University of Alabama to a 20–19 victory over the University of Washington.
Wade coached a total of five Rose Bowl teams, three while at Alabama and two at Duke. He died in 1986.
