Enberg became the Rose Bowl’s television play-by-play announcer from 1980 to 1988. Enberg’s passion, joy for the sport of football, and energetic play-by-play style helped make Enberg an important figure in Rose Bowl history.

Enberg was one of America's most beloved sports broadcasters, with his versatile voice spanning the world on networks such as NBC, CBS and ESPN. In all, he covered 28 Wimbledons, 10 Super Bowls and eight NCAA men's basketball title games, including the Magic Johnson-Larry Bird showdown in 1979.
Endberg was known for exclaiming "Oh my!" So much so, that his 2004 autobiography is titled: Dick Enberg, Oh My! Enberg passed away in 2017.
