Harriman Cronk wass known for his work with the Tournament of Roses and his fight to keep the Rose Bowl football game at the forefront of college football.
Cronk made his mark in Pasadena as president of the Tournament of Roses in 1988, and as the chairman of the Tournament of Roses Football Committee for 12 years afterward. During his tenure, Cronk facilitated the creation of the Bowl Championship Series structure and negotiated for the Tournament of Roses to retain the television rights to the game.
Cronk is also credited with building an expanded press box and other stadium upgrades, though most of those have now been replaced in the latest renovation.
He worked as a stock broker at Crowell, Weedon & Co. from 1986 until a few weeks before his death in 2013.
