R. C. ‘'Rube" Samuelson served as the longtime editor and columnist for the Pasadena Star-News. Samuelson, called "Mr. Rose Bowl" by the nation’s sportswriters attended every Rose Bowl game for 34 years until his retirement from the paper in 1963. He also penned the book, The Rose Bowl Game.
