Bobby Bell was a two-time All-America defensive lineman who helped the University of Minnesota reach the 1961 and 1962 Rose Bowl Games. The Gophers beat UCLA 21–3 in the 1962 game. The winner of the 1962 Outland Trophy as the top interior lineman in the country, Bell mostly played outside linebacker in his pro career with the Kansas City Chiefs from 1963 to 1974. He played a key role on a dominating defense as Kansas City won AFL championships in 1966 and 1969, and beat the Minnesota Vikings in Super
Bowl IV.

Bell is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame. He earned his degree from the University of Minnesota in 2015, fulfilling a promise that he made to his father when he was 18.
