Glenn “Bo” Schembechler, the sixth winningest college football coach of all-time, led his University of Michigan teams to 10 Rose Bowl Game appearances during his 21 years as the Wolverines’ coach (1969–1989). Michigan appeared in 17 bowl games in all, including each of his last 15 seasons, during Schembechler’s tenure as head coach.

Schembechler posted a record of 234–65–8 in his 27 seasons as a head coach, including a six-year stint at his alma mater, the University of Miami Ohio (1963–68). Michigan’s 10 appearances in Pasadena under Schembechler is a Rose Bowl Game record. Schembechler also was the athletic director at Michigan for four years (1988–1991). He died in 2006.
