1935 Rose Bowl Game
1993 Inductee

Described by former Alabama head coach Frank Thomas as “the greatest player I’ve ever seen,” Hutson played a crucial role in Alabama’s 29–13 victory over Stanford in the 1935 Rose Bowl Game. Hutson, who played end, caught six passes for 165 yards and scored on receptions of 59 and 54 yards to lead the Crimson Tide to victory.

Hutson then went on to a stellar professional football career with the Green Bay Packers and twice was named the NFL Player of the Year (1941 and ’42). At the time of his retirement, he held almost all the NFL’s receiving records. Hutson was a charter member of both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame. He died in 1997.
