The Eagles had 12 players that played in Pasadena as part of America's New Years Celebration, headlined by Heisman Trophy winner and 2021 Offensive Player of the Game DeVonta Smith (Alabama). Other key players with Rose Bowl Games ties include running back Saquon Barkley (Penn State, 2017), linebacker Zack Baun (Wisconsin, 2020) and Landon Dickerson (Alabama, 2021).

On the Chiefs sidelines, 10 players were alumni of the Rose Bowl Game. Three-time Pro Bowl center Creed Humphrey was a key cog in Oklahoma's offensive line in the 2018 game, while Mecole Hardman (Georgia, 2018), Justin Reid (Stanford, 2016), JuJu Smith-Schuster (USC, 2017) and Leo Chenal (Wisconsin, 2020) were key members of their teams in the game.
