John began his work with the Rose Bowl Game as an independent contractor, working in team operations for the 2005 game featuring Texas vs. Michigan. He was hired full time as the game's Director of Operations in November of 2010.
Prior to his tenure at the Tournament of Roses, John was at the University of Southern California since 1995. His first role at USC was as a women's basketball assistant coach but moved in the Athletic Administration in the Spring of 1997 as the Director of Operations/Event Management at USC for Men’s/Women’s Volleyball and Women’s Basketball. He was elevated to Assistant Athletic Director in 1999 and assumed Event Management for all sports beginning in the Fall of 1999. Â
John graduated from San Diego State University in 1989 with a BA in Physical Education. He was a basketball manager for the women’s team during the 1989-1990 season and then served as a Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach at San Diego State (1990-1992) and the University of the Pacific (1992-1995).

In his spare time, John also works as a High School and Junior College Basketball Referee. He and his wife Stacey have two adult children (Jeremy and Kenna)Â and an adorable golden retriever named Tucker.
