Rose Bowl Game Team Families Give Back with Community Care Kits

Coach and player families from Oregon and Ohio State teamed up during the 2025 CFP Quarterfinal at the Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential to make a difference in the Los Angeles community. In a friendly race to assemble 500 care kits, both groups packed socks, dental hygiene supplies and other essential materials. The packages are designed to provide relief and support to the local community and were distributed to families in need following the catastrophic Eaton Fire in Altadena and Pasadena in early January.

The Rose Bowl Game initiative partnered with the Flintridge Center, a non-profit foundation whose central mission is to break the cycle of poverty and address socioeconomic disparities in Pasadena. From youth care to reintegration services, the Flintridge Center offers comprehensive support to empower individuals and families.

The center's mission aligns closely with the spirit of the Rose Bowl Game. "Football is a part of the community. It brings communities together," said LaRon Henry, a representative from the Flintridge Center.

Henry noted football has long been a unifying force, connecting people across diverse backgrounds through shared passion and teamwork. Off the field, the sport is a powerful platform to increase community engagement and positive change.

He added, "This is going to impact our community in a good light. It warms my heart that people are doing something like this."

Cindy Davis, wife of an Oregon coach, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of giving back. "We are so lucky to be here at this Rose Bowl," she said. "Some people will never be able to go to a Rose Bowl, so we're going to put these care packages together to distribute to different communities and let them know we're thinking of them."

Both families approached the event with a shared enthusiasm, reflecting the spirit of camaraderie that defines football and community involvement. Across generations, participants eagerly worked side by side to contribute to the effort, demonstrating the impact of the game beyond the field. The care package initiative exemplifies the heart of the Rose Bowl Game experience: unity, generosity and a commitment to uplift others.
