The 2025 CFP Quarterfinal at the Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential once again proved its status as "The Granddaddy of Them All," delivering strong viewership numbers and leading the way in CFP Quarterfinal round.
Airing on ESPN, the game averaged 21.1 million viewers, peaking at 24.3 million, marking the largest audience for a non-semifinal Rose Bowl Game since the event moved from ABC to ESPN. It also stood out as the most-watched of the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal and the most-viewed non-NFL sporting event since the 2024 CFP National Championship Game.
The game's success extended beyond the main broadcast. ESPN's Pat McAfee-led altcast drew an impressive 2.4 million viewers, setting a new record as the "Most viewed altcast ever."
Pregame coverage also saw massive gains, as College GameDay from the Rose Bowl Stadium averaged 2.4 million viewers, peaking at 4.6 million. This made it the most-watched January 1Â episode ever, with a 70% year-over-year increase.
