The 2024 Rose Bowl Game will be the 110th edition of The Granddaddy of Them All and will be a College Football Playoff Semifinal featuring a matchup of two of the top four teams in the country.
Throughout the College Football Playoff era of college football, the Rose Bowl Game has served as one of six playoff semifinal sites. Every third year, rather than hosting a traditional matchup of the Big Ten against the Pac-12, the Rose Bowl Game has hosted two of the four playoff teams, either No. 1 vs. No. 4 or No. 2 vs. No. 3. The 2024 semifinal will be the fourth hosted by the Rose Bowl Game.
In 2015, the Rose Bowl Game hosted the very first CFP Semifinal as No. 2 Oregon defeated No. 3 Florida State, 59-20, in the 101
st Rose Bowl Game.
The 2018 College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Rose Bowl Game was the first Rose Bowl Game to feature overtime as No. 3 Georgia beat No. 2 Oklahoma, 54-48 in double overtime.
The Rose Bowl Game hosted the 2021 CFP Semifinal in Arlington, Texas, after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the game to be moved from Pasadena. No. 1 Alabama triumphed in that game, defeating No. 4 Notre Dame, 31-14.
